Too Cool for Internet Explorer

What a year it’s been…

December 19th, 2008 by Marie

It’s been a while since I last posted, as things have been as hectic as ever. I thought work would slow down once Paul and I had stepped down from the BFS Committee, but it hasn’t happened yet - which is a good thing, I guess :) So what’s been happening?…

Well, in October Paul and I visited the set of Dread, the next movie in the Book of Blood series. Written and directed by Anthony DiBlasi and starring Jackson Rathbone and Shaun Evans, we had a great time on set and as it was Halloween, finished up at the Halloween set party that night.

We also attended the launch party for Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book in London, after interviewing Neil earlier in the day. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, as did Paul - our poor daughter Jen had to wait till we’d finished, but we consoled her with her own copy :)

I also finally managed to kick start the writing again, which felt wonderful - a couple of short stories have been placed; one in December’s Christmas issue of Estronomicon Ezine and one in a US mag, NVF, early next year. I read the Christmas one, In The Howling of the Wind, at the Christmas Spirits event in Derby on December 3rd, organised by Alex Davis - and succeeded in making at least one of the attendees cry. Oops :)

I’ve also been able to work more on scripting, which I really enjoy - so all in all it’s been a good few months. There are a few more projects that I’m working on with Paul that we can’t announce yet, but at the moment 2009 is shaping up to be another busy year as well as a very enjoyable one!

At the moment I’m trying to clear the decks workwise so we can relax and enjoy the holidays with the kids, all of whom are home for Christmas now.

Here’s wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
